Greenbush

GREENBUSH is an ethical sun protection and care brand.

After 30 years of traveling the beaches of the world, surfing the waves of all the oceans; after experiencing heavenly places, I could only observe the environmental drama unfolding before our eyes, the deterioration of the oceans appeared obvious to me.

Over the years, I have been able to observe the beaches and waters devastated by pollution, but also meet the populations directly affected by this scourge, to which are now added the problems of global warming and rising sea levels.

It quickly became impossible to take the same pleasure in the water when almost every beach is an alarm cry from the ocean.

The turning point was during my last surf trip to Greenbush in the Mentawai Islands, when I became totally aware of this paradox, which stands out so clearly in such a beautiful setting.

We had to act, react, be an actor of progress, create a project with a “green” thread and three priorities: Environment, Health, Protection.

It is in this context that the Greenbush brand was born.

We have created a line of sun care without chemical filters, a natural and mineral product that preserves the oceans, corals in particular; then stainless steel bottles to stop this overconsumption of plastic bottles piling up on beaches and in the oceans.

Our Sun Care offers optimal protection and respects the environment.

GREENBUSH SPF 50+ sun stick and COMBI GREENBUSH SPF 50 sun cream and nourishing lip stick, offer maximum and long-lasting protection to the most sensitive skin, prone to sunburn and intolerant to chemical filters.
Because maintaining biodiversity is essential, GREENBUSH sun care products are composed only of mineral filters which do not degrade the coral.

In fact, over the last thirty years, 30% of coral reefs have been irreversibly lost. However, these are essential to the survival of the marine ecosystem, since 25% of marine species live in close dependence on coral.
Chemical filters, dispersed in the sea when we surf or swim, are very toxic to the algae on which the survival of corals depends.
The widespread use of chemical sunscreens causes a phenomenon of coral bleaching, synonymous with death.
Every year 15,000 tonnes of sunscreen are dumped into the oceans and chemical filters destroy corals in less than 48 hours.

GREENBUSH is composed of a mineral screen, stable and effective over time, offering high tolerance and optimal protection against UVB AND UVA (short and long).

GREENBUSH dry oil is an oil of natural origin.

Our Greenbush Water Bottles keep your drinks cold and hot

Every minute around the world, 1 million plastic bottles are sold. The UN is sounding the alarm on ocean pollution, calling it a planetary crisis.

No less than 8.8 million tonnes of plastic are thrown into the seas each year, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

An American study is no more reassuring: more than 9.1 billion tonnes of plastic have so far been produced worldwide, most of which ends up in sanitary landfills or in the ocean.
A plastic bottle takes hundreds of years to decompose, while the hardest plastics can take millennia.

Urgent action is needed to prevent the oceans from turning into a plastic soup, according to the head of the UN environment agency (UNEP), Erik Solheim.

“By 2050, there will be more plastic in the seas than fish.”

Furthermore, plastic bottles can harm our health if they are not used properly.

A study carried out by researchers at the University of Cincinnati (Ohio), in January 2008, demonstrated that certain plastic bottles release Bisphenol A (BPA), mainly due to heat. This very toxic chemical substance is responsible for several disorders such as growth problems, digestion or even brain development... This is particularly harmful to children and pregnant women. Although the low level of BPA found in plastic bottles is harmless, exposure to 70 degrees would be enough to make it harmful. It is therefore strongly recommended not to store hot or boiling drinks in plastic containers.

Reusing bottles can also be dangerous: this practice actually presents significant problems with regard to hygiene, since the various manipulations necessary for filling result in contamination of the inside of the bottle. This contamination is particularly very important if the bottle is also used as a container from which water is drunk from the “neck”. The microbiological risk, the development and transmission of bacteria and microbes is favored by stagnant water and handling of the bottle with sometimes moderately clean hands.

To no longer contribute to this overconsumption of waste, to risk your health on a daily basis with unreliable ingredients, it is better to use a reusable bottle that will last you your whole life, or almost: opt for a stainless steel bottle! We created thick insulated stainless steel bottles that keep drinks hot for 12 hours and cold for 24 hours.
