When the swell arrives and it's time to put your head in the wave and charge, it's time to get on the Big Horse.

With a global R&D program that has allowed us to create dozens of Traktor team favorite boards, which then gave birth to the Schooner, the origin of this model comes from several prototypes tested by Kauli Vaast and Ramzi Boukhiam on quality hollow reefs.

And while the Schooner eventually took a different direction with the widest point advanced in the outline, another model began to emerge when one of Ramzi's best tube boards found its way into the hands of Tai "Buddha" Graham.

Having grown up on the Gold Coast before moving to Bali, Buddha has spent most of his life between some of the world's most wave-rich regions chasing barrels. His initial reaction after surfing Ramzi's board was to realize that he had found the best tube board of his life so far. After understanding the board's potential, Buddha and JS continued to refine this model to create the brand new Big Horse.

Wider and thicker than the Schooner or FMN3, the Big Horse features a unique foil that hides excess volume in the center, while tapering down to a refined rail. According to Buddha: "This board paddles like no other on the market, while maintaining a rail you can rely on in all situations."

We've taken many of the processes and R&D used for other good wave boards and opted for a deep single concave in the center, transitioning into a shallow double concave between the fins. This bottom contour helps to control the board at high speeds, allowing for confident adjustments. The Big Horse is ridden with 3 to 6 liters more than standard shortboard dimensions and about ¼ to ½ inch thicker. This may seem extreme, but it's a huge leap in paddle power and speed in serious conditions, while maintaining a rail height close to usual volume to provide grip and reliability.
